The Anti-Cruelty Society’s 13th Annual Gala at Galleria Marchetti
Feline fans and canine lovers lined up at Chicago’s Galleria Marchetti on Thursday, October 24 for The Anti-Cruelty Society’s 13th annual It’s Raining Cats & Dogs! chef tasting and gala, sponsored by Hill’s Science Diet, CS Magazine, Printing Arts, Dr. Shelly and Paulette Rubin, Bill and Kim Lansford, and David Burke’s Prime House and Burke’s Bacon Bar. This was the first time that the Society has hosted the event at Galleria Marchetti—proving it to be an outstanding event.
NBC5’s meteorologist Andy Avalos served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. More than 250 guests were treated by delightful dishes from our celebrity chefs, including: Rick Gresh of Burke’s Bacon Bar and David Burke’s Primehouse, Troy Graves of Red Door, Ryan Pitts of RL Restaurant, and Jimmy Banos of Heaven on Seven, and so many more.
The live auction, featuring a diamond necklace form A.M. Feldman, a weekend trip to Colorado, and a yacht cruise were among the items that helped raise $130,000 for the animals. Our $5,000 cash raffle proved to be a hit after raffle winner and board member, Shelley Rubin, graciously donated the entire $5,000 back to the Society. All donations raised for the reverse auction portion went towards the vaccinations, microchips, and spay/neuter surgeries that all of our animals receive while in our care.
